A zombie, one might say, for every taste

A new history of zombies, The Telegraph argues, underscores film-maker George Romero's rebranding them as "metatrope", a relentless cultural signifier that could encapsulate all aspects of our deadened decline: from the stock markets to our selfhood.











We have them moving, slowly, out of pulp and into the higher reaches of fiction:



Even National Review fantasizes that, when the Zombie Apocalypse finally comes, its adherents can pick up the pieces.
