Graham Greene, always a Nobel Prize bridegroom, was born on this day in 1904. A prolific and successful writer, he is remembered for the moral and political dilemmas he placed in in the way of his characters, who inhabited a bleak world critics called “Greeneland.” William Golding said Greene was “the ultimate chronicler of twentieth century man’s consciousness and anxiety."
Henry Bemis is celebrating by offering a copy of one of Greene’s four great, overtly Catholic-themed novels:
GRAHAM GREENE, THE HEART OF THE MATTER, AUTOGRAPHED
