Time offered something for every taste

In the archive, Senator Joseph R. McCarthy of Wisconsin tells Henry R. Luce, the co-founder and publisher of Time, that the magazine “is rendering almost unlimited service to the Communist cause and undermining America.” He threatens to provoke a boycott by Time’s advertisers.
J. Edgar Hoover, the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, offers praise in a letter. “I wanted you to know how much Clyde and I enjoyed the recent March of Time,” he writes. Clyde Tolson was Mr. Hoover’s — well, that’s another article altogether.
The magazine's archives are going to the New York Historical Society- a mile and a half of boxes.
