Like bookends, they were, yes. And gardeners? They knew how to run a trellis up your creeper-

Kenneth Williams, the British comic born ninety years ago today, was a mainstay of BBC radio comedy and the Carry On! series of films. A regular on Hancock's Half Hour, Beyond Our Ken, Round the Horne, and Just A Minute, he created- with Hugh Paddick- one of the first popular gay couples in media. Julian and Sandy (Williams), two high-camp Cockneys, made double-entendres into an art form and left Kenneth Horne constantly on the verge of cancellation by the network.
