There is no end of the making of readings lists. I like to look for the quirky ones. There are, after all, no master-deciders of taste any more. The New York Times bestseller list is pointless. It's a lot of lists mooshed together, Seth Godin says. We all find what's good from talking with each other, and reading what others write in places like this.
That said, this is a list I like. I don't agree with every choice, but it's a useful framing device. It helps me frame what my list of best books for Lent would be. For one thing, it's nicely contrarian: instead of giving something up for season, this list gives out: it shares.
What books would you include in your list?
