As Devonshire estate goes under the hammer, a record for an Evelyn Waugh 1st

The collections of Deborah, Duchess of Devonshire, nearly tripled their auction estimate this week, buoyed by a crowd of over a thousand keen to see her jewelry and Elvis memorabilia.

Among the star items sold include a first edition copy of Brideshead Revisited, given to her by her friend Evelyn Waugh, which sold for a record £52,500.
