Umm, well, yes, about the phones...

Dear Friends:

Not many folks call Henry Bemis Books. Most deal with us by email. So when things got tight recently, we opted to keep the email and let the phone go as an economy measure.

Henry Bemis Books has been operating since March. Quality used, rare and collectible books aren't in most people's thinking as an impulse purchase. If we were a Broadway play, we'd be called "an artistic success."

I thought it wise, if a bit embarrassing, to post this note to explain why, if you call, you get nobody. Listing a phone and not having it work, I read, is the hallmark of the sketchy online business.

And, also, for the business strapped for cash.

So, my apologies. As soon as I can, I'll get the phone back.
